Common Questions:

Here's what most companies ask before booking

I’m based in Bournemouth and have my own transport - coverage really depends on the job location. If I'm required to meet somewhere further afield, contact me with the details and I'll confirm availability.
I have a light van for my own personal transport - which I’d use to meet you at the job. I'm available as labour-only, but I'm fully licensed and experienced driving removal vans up to 3.5 tonnes - including hire vans from Abacus Vehicle Hire.
If I’m not booked for a job then I’m usually available 24/7 if need be (weekends included). You can book me weeks ahead (but not, say for example, a quick sofa collection - as I’ll be losing a whole days work potentially). For small last minute jobs I’m more than happy to fit them in if I can.
Absolutely. Send me a message anytime and I’ll immediately confirm if I can jump on.
It helps me if you use the quick and easy booking form to send me the main details. I’d aim to respond as soon as possible, usually immediately or within the hour. Click the booking button at the top.
I’ll factor in travel time depending on location, and I’ll give you a competitive rate depending on job specifics.
You’d never get a no show from me! It’s been years since I was actually ill, but if I literally can’t do the job on the day, you’ll get notified as soon as possible. If that’s the case, I do have contacts and trusted people I’ve worked with for years to fill in for me if necessary.
Unless we have an ongoing relationship, it’s payment immediately upon job completion. Otherwise I’m following you home. Jokes aside - please be ready with cash or transfer at the end of the day.

Who Am I?

My name's Warren - I came to the UK from South Africa 20+ years ago. I lived in London for a decade before settling in Dorset. I now live with my partner Linda and my dog Luna in Poole - not too far from a beautiful beach.
Loving life!

What I Bring To Your Jobs

I've been in the industry for over 10 years now. I started with a local man and van, and since then have worked for several larger removals companies based in Bournemouth. I've done everything from studio flats to office relocations to Sandbanks mansions. I'm experienced in leading teams and running jobs independently from start to finish.

I know how to keep a job moving, coordinate with other porters, and handle things properly when shit hits the fan. I don't need constant direction - you can hand me a job and trust it'll get done right. I'm also excellent with customers and know how to deal with different personality types - I pride myself on high standards and I know what it takes to lock in an excellent review.

What I've handled before

Full house and flat moves
Full office and commercial relocations.
Difficult access situations (weird staircases, necessary disassembly etc)
Specialist items (pianos, antiques, art, fragiles, valuables - you name it I've packed and moved it)
Leading teams of multiple porters/drivers.
Running jobs from start to finish without supervision.
Also, I like keeping fit so the physical side of the job is a plus for me - I don't struggle with heavy items and I can climb stairs all day long.

Why I Work Freelance

While working for several removals companies over the years, there were often issues I had to grapple with, such as: disorganised operations, being undervalued (and underpaid), as well as inconsistent and limited work availability. I'd be putting all my eggs in one basket hoping I'd get the hours. Offering my services freelance means I can work for who I want - and as much as I want - by filling my schedule from multiple sources.

What's in it for you

It means you get someone who's showing up because they're hungry for the work, not just clocking in to keep a job. You don't have to commit to giving me any number of hours a week and you don't have to bother with dodgy agency workers. I'm flexible and reliable - no flakiness, no last minute excuses, no being left in the lurch. And also, your customers will love me - I'll make sure you get that 5 star review!

Frequently Asked Questions

Experience

Yes I worked in trades before removals, so I’m good with my hands and using tools. I’ve taken apart and reassembled most everything over the years. Just leave it to me.

I have my own personal tools generally, but I provide a labour only service. However if you’re stuck - and it’s a matter of say for example, not being able to take a wardrobe apart on the day because your drill packed in - let me know and I’ll try help out.
Yes, as well as reconnect them if you want me to. From washing machines to American fridge freezer doors - I'll handle them.

Then I get my second wind and crack on faster without moaning - to make sure we get home sooner rather than later. It comes with the territory, so I don’t charge extra for ‘overtime’.
I know customers cancel frequently and things get rearranged, so if I’m available we’ll book a different day. All I ask is for you to let me know as soon as possible if a booked job gets cancelled so I have enough time to make other plans.

Pricing & Logistics

Typically a 3-hour minimum, which might be flexible for quick local jobs depending on the situation. If a minimum booking doesn’t suit you, let me know why and I’ll try to accommodate.
I’ll factor in travel time depending on location, and I’ll give you a competitive rate depending on job specifics.
Day rates only ever benefit one party depending on job length. Either you end up paying me more than you needed to, or I earn less than I should have. I consistently work hard and keep a good pace - so with an hourly rate you always get good value for money.
Unless we have an ongoing relationship, it’s payment immediately upon job completion. Otherwise I’m following you home. Jokes aside - please be ready with cash or transfer at the end of the day.

Miscellaneous

I’m always presentable. My go-to default is black under armour performance tees, black jeans/cargos/cargo shorts, black adidas hiking trainers (to be specific). I have no problem wearing your uniform if available - my goal is to give your customer a good impression of your company.
Yes - lots of experience moving gym equipment including machine dismantling / reassembly. Safes, commercial printers, valuable artwork, awkward / fragile items. I’ll help move anything within reason, as long as proper planning and safety is considered.
Yes - both upright and baby grands. If you need help moving a piano please make sure you have a plan in place, enough hands on deck and the proper equipment.
I’ve done loads in my time but unless it’s a safe working environment with proper health and safety considerations, PPE etc, I prefer to steer clear.
Yes I’m good working late into the evening, as well as doing overnight long distance jobs (providing accommodation is covered).
